Euro Adventures Pt 12 - Driving The Day Away, To Venice We Go

Sometimes I cannot believe I am on this tour, living this lifestyle, I never thought I would be able to handle it... My body may be telling me that I can't. But I will still power through! This is one of those days - one of those days where I need to power through, buck up, not be a princess and suck up the massive pain in my tailbone and endure a long day in a bus... But at least at the end we will be in one of my favourite places in the world, Venice!

Already on our 11th day... 11 days away from our jobs, from our families, from our boyfriends, it's been hard, but we have tried to make every day as fun as we can - even the drive days, and this one was a long one - we did, however, have one notable stop...

Two households, both alike in dignity, in fair Verona, where we lay our scene, from ancient grudge break to new mutiny, where civil blood makes civil hands unclean.

Today we were able to stop in Verona, where the famous play Romeo and Juliet was based. It was nothing like I had ever expected, beautiful architecture, so many shops - so many expensive shops! Such good gelato. And only two hours break from the day long bus ride.

We walked through the fair city of Verona to Juliet's home and we were able to see the famous balcony of Juliet, where she would have called down to her beloved Romeo. There was also a statue of Juliet, this statue has one very very shiny boob - as rubbing it is said to bring good luck in love to the rubber. People come from all over the world to leave letters or notes for Juliet or just to leave their mark in this place. It was very cool. We had some gelato and then made our way back to the coach to head to our hostel on Venice.

We were actually staying on a camping ground in two person bungalows with their own ensuites... We were all so stinking hot from our couple of hours walking around Verona, so we changed into our swimmers and headed for the pool before dinner. Lucky for us it was make your own sundae night in the Topdeck food tent which was hilarious - made me feel like a kid again. Alysha was able to catch up with her cousins who are also on a Topdeck tour and happened to be staying at the same place - then I spent the rest of my night doing laundry and having a cold shower - not by choice (our hot water did not work - crap).

Euro Adventures Pt 6 - The Swiss Alps

So we were about an hour and a half out of the Swiss Alps and a massive sound hissed from the bus... It was as if a tyre had exploded... But nope... The engine... Over heated... We were stuck at the service stop for about an hour and a half while our awesome Polish bus driver did what he could to get us there... It was about 4am by the time we got there... Oh my god.  In Switzerland there was the option to do a skydive out of a helicopter - which a few brave people chose to do. There was also a train up to the top of the Alps where you could do a few things - and the Alps were snowy and cool. Alysha and I had decided to have a chill day - we did some washing up and had a short nap. We went for a stroll around Interlarken (the town we stayed in) took in the magnificent views of the mountains and admired the gorgeous houses. We went into a few pubs and enjoyed some ice cold ciders which was amazing - it was incredibly hot. Noddie told us we were following the heat wave that was hitti...

Euro Adventures Pt 16 - Wild Boar Panini's and a Relaxing Afternoon in Roma

Another day another dollar - oh wait...I don't have to go to work today. Haha. We have another drive day today to get to Rome - our last stop in Italy before getting into Greece and the Greek Islands. It was about 4-5 hours from Florence to Rome and we had an early lunch stop at a little town called Orvieto.  It was a beautiful little town except for one fact - it was on the absolute top of a mountain - making it very had to take over in war and times of unrest. Noddy told us that the last person to conquer Orvieto was Julius Caesar - she also told us that they were famous for their porchetta panini's (wild boar rolls)... We had to try one. Being a town on a giant cliff face we had to catch a strangle little train/carriage thing from the bottom to the top. We then had a very steep walk up to the town centre - Orvieto also had a Duomo that looked like a liquorice all-sort on one side.  We had some free time so some of the group went to do a tour of the underground tunnels of th...
