Euro Adventures Pt 16 - Wild Boar Panini's and a Relaxing Afternoon in Roma

Another day another dollar - oh wait...I don't have to go to work today. Haha. We have another drive day today to get to Rome - our last stop in Italy before getting into Greece and the Greek Islands. It was about 4-5 hours from Florence to Rome and we had an early lunch stop at a little town called Orvieto.

It was a beautiful little town except for one fact - it was on the absolute top of a mountain - making it very had to take over in war and times of unrest. Noddy told us that the last person to conquer Orvieto was Julius Caesar - she also told us that they were famous for their porchetta panini's (wild boar rolls)... We had to try one. Being a town on a giant cliff face we had to catch a strangle little train/carriage thing from the bottom to the top. We then had a very steep walk up to the town centre - Orvieto also had a Duomo that looked like a liquorice all-sort on one side.

We had some free time so some of the group went to do a tour of the underground tunnels of the mountain and the rest of us went on a hunt for wild boars. They were MASSIVE rolls and some people really enjoyed it -
Me? Not so much. Wild boar is definitely not on my list of favourites - but at least I tried it!! We went and had some amazing gelato on the steps of the Duomo then started to make our way back down to the bus for the rest of the drive to Rome.

There was a very long walking tour today through Rome, I made the wise decision to not partake - as I have seen Rome before and I just needed some time by myself to rest, even if it was just for 4 hours. So the Topdeck crew was dropped into the city for their walking tour and I went to the campsite we were staying at with the Topdeck driver. As much as I love Italy - it really has way to many hills... Everything is on a hill, including our last two campsites. Oh well - buns of steel!!

I had a very cruisy afternoon of swimming, having a sneaky nap by the pool, watching Geordie shore and having bananas and yogurt for dinner (I am definitely over having pizza and pasta for now haha). When the group returned I could finally collect my suitcase and go and do some laundry! Rome is the last place we can do laundry until Alysha and I get back to London. So we washed everything we could!

The campsite had a 'tight and bright' party on that most of us tried to attend (even for 30 minutes) as a lot of people were leaving the tour tomorrow, so we all had one last drink at the bar. We didn't stay very long... There were sooooo many twelvies in and around the bar acting like idiots (the legal drinking age is 16). So we returned to our room for a hot and sweaty sleep - our air conditioning does not work - great.

Friends are the family you choose - choose wisely

Sometimes we get lucky and someone comes into your life and changes you forever. I have been blessed to have many people come into my life and make a massive impact on who I am as a person, I don't plan to ever let those people go - or for that matter, make sure they always know how much they mean to me!  Babycakes - my bestie, met this girl while working at a golf club and we instantly clicked! She tells it like it is and doesn't put up with your shit. She is also one of the most kind hearted, generous and absolutely gorgeous girls I have ever met. She has helped me through some very dark times in my life and motivates me everyday to be a better version of myself. She is a pillar of strength in my long standing battle with obesity for which I will never be able to thank her for. I don't know how she will survive four weeks in Europe with me but I can't wait to explore the world with her.  Millzdawwwggg, soulmate, realestate buddies, this chick! My sister from another ...

Euro Adventures Pt 3 - The Day From Hell

Today. The day from hell. The worst possible day where all the bad things that could have possibly happened DID HAPPEN!  I am going to put it all down to the French. They have successfully ruined the start of our tour! So here is the goss:  - the Ferry workers were striking - the French lit the EuroStar rail on fire so no trains were running - all of the planes out were chockers and booked up We started the day really well - met up with our tour group and started meeting people and getting set to get on the bus. We met two super awesome girls from Wollongong (Taylor and Sam) who we sat with on the bus.  We were then informed by our tour leader Noddie (no that's not her actually name) that the French were striking and the main port in Dover was currently closed. She said we would still be going down to see what the go is... So on we trekked down to Dover where we were able to see the magnificent white cliffs of Dover. But that was where the fun ended. We waited out at the ...
