Euro Adventures Pt 18 - A Very Long Day

Oh dear... 5 hours on the bus... 15 hours on a ferry... Then we will be in Greece. This will definitely be a very very long day - and that's only if the ferry isn't delayed. We had a very early start this morning with bags on the bus at 6am and brekkie at 630. With a long drive ahead of us we began our journey to the ports. I've never been on a proper cruise ship before so I was pretty excited.

We had a toilet stop and were informed that the ferry was running about 4 hours late, oh dear. But Noddy said we could find a great beach and just chill for a couple of hours - rather than waiting at the ports. I am feeling really really unwell today, light headed, dizzy, headaches, fever... Not a good sign. It also made the bus ride pretty unbearable.

But we made it to a beach resort type of place and it was WAY to hot to be by the water. There was a bunch of shops with tables and chairs so we just sat and talked and had gelato. Alysha and I bought Turkish towels for the sailing and a lilo... Should be a fun time. We jumped back on the bus and headed down to the port, checked in and tried to get onto the boat (but it was full) so we waited in the coach with the AC on and watched Anchorman. I ended up falling in and out of sleep because I was so sore and so sick - I just wanted to get on this cruise ship and lie down.

We got there in the end though - on the boat and got our rooms - they were surprisingly really nice rooms. Two sets of bunk beds, little ensuite and plenty of space for once... We can't flush toilet paper down the toilet in Greece, it has to go into a garbage bin... Ew. I'm not looking forward to that. We had a quick lie down in the room and went on the hunt for food - Alysha and I ended up having Gyros - which are like open kebabs and BLOODY AMAZING. We went back to our room, showered and jumped into bed with some Geordie Shore on, oh yeah... And it was only 8pm.

Oh well. See you in the morning Greece!!

Euro Adventures Pt 12 - Driving The Day Away, To Venice We Go

Sometimes I cannot believe I am on this tour, living this lifestyle, I never thought I would be able to handle it... My body may be telling me that I can't. But I will still power through! This is one of those days - one of those days where I need to power through, buck up, not be a princess and suck up the massive pain in my tailbone and endure a long day in a bus... But at least at the end we will be in one of my favourite places in the world, Venice!  Already on our 11th day... 11 days away from our jobs, from our families, from our boyfriends, it's been hard, but we have tried to make every day as fun as we can - even the drive days, and this one was a long one - we did, however, have one notable stop... Two households, both alike in dignity, in fair Verona, where we lay our scene, from ancient grudge break to new mutiny, where civil blood makes civil hands unclean.  Today we were able to stop in Verona, where the famous play Romeo and Juliet was based. It was nothing like ...

Euro Adventures Pt 7 - The Medieval Town of Avignon

Today we head off to the town of Avignon today - one of the oldest medieval towns in France. It houses the only other home of past Popes other than the Vatican. We are lucky enough to have been arriving the same day as the popular Avignon Festival which happens every July and is a massive performing arts festival.  We had a long 6-7 hour drive to reach our hostel - it was a really bumpy and windy drive so I found myself feeling very ill, we stopped for a picnic lunch and were very surprised to find the strangest squat/drop toilets I have ever seen before in my life... In Australia we have long drops... But we have nothing like this. I was going to give it a try for the sake of this blog but I chickened out. I took a picture too...  After a long hot drive and a couple of toilet stops we finally arrived at our hostel - WHICH HAD A POOL!!! Noddy gave us an hour and a half of free time before we headed into the old city of Avignon. Alysha and I were straight into that pool - so re...

Friends are the family you choose - choose wisely

Sometimes we get lucky and someone comes into your life and changes you forever. I have been blessed to have many people come into my life and make a massive impact on who I am as a person, I don't plan to ever let those people go - or for that matter, make sure they always know how much they mean to me!  Babycakes - my bestie, met this girl while working at a golf club and we instantly clicked! She tells it like it is and doesn't put up with your shit. She is also one of the most kind hearted, generous and absolutely gorgeous girls I have ever met. She has helped me through some very dark times in my life and motivates me everyday to be a better version of myself. She is a pillar of strength in my long standing battle with obesity for which I will never be able to thank her for. I don't know how she will survive four weeks in Europe with me but I can't wait to explore the world with her.  Millzdawwwggg, soulmate, realestate buddies, this chick! My sister from another ...
